...gardening books.
January is always great for armchair gardening. You're not in the pit of the year (December) when the warm season seems hopelessly far off, but you're pretty deep in...the only nature you can get your hands on is houseplants (Which I have never liked. They're irritating to care for and they just sit there like weird decorations...they never really seem that alive, to me.) It's about the right time for your head to wander off on thoughts of the coming growing season's possibilities.
I doubt I'll ever keep a useful veggie garden (had a few before but end up using almost none of what it produces)...but I still have a book on 'lasagna gardening' coming by the end of the month. I'm also very interested in vertical gardening and the most accessible types of gardening...raised beds. I don't like the look of a lot of them so I keep looking for stuff I DO like.
Oh...those veggie burgers I made were actually really good, btw...even better as they aged. They were great with mayo and a slice each of avocado and tomato, and some salt. Also good with mayo, thousand island relish, and mustard. Weird with ketchup, though. They'd be great stuffed in a pita with greens and a thin garlic hummus and some freshly sliced sweet onions. I'm going to make them again. I might try making them in the blender this time to see if I like how they turn out when no chunks of beans or veggies or seeds are left obvious. (They look just like actual hamburger patties if you do that. Not that I care about that part...but it'd be easier to trick people into eating them if they're the type to not want to try them just because they look different. Not that I bother. You don't wanna try? Okay. Go away, then, because I'd rather enjoy them myself. They're yummy!) The chia 'bread', however, was gross. Not making that one again.
My sciatic dealie hurts. Grump. Well I'll get the heating pad, warm it up, and then freeze it with an ice pad...and take some pills at bedtime. It's not so bad it's restricting what I do or anything, but I definitely won't skip my chiro appt on Friday.
