UK riots
People in London and Birmingham all over the freaking UK (just heard there are riots in Liverpool too): please be safe!
These riots are disgusting and if I hadn't seen photos of the situation, I'd find it hard to believe this is really going on - and even more that it's this bad. I hope the situation will be under control soon and that the rioters will be punished properly. And that it won't spread any further. D:
For those who don't know what's going on: what I understood from Tumblr, Facebook and some quick BBC scanning is that police accidentally shot a man to death they thought was armed. This happened three nights ago. There was a peaceful protest and then suddenly... this happened. Apparently it started off as people being pissed off because of lack of information and then others decided to join in for looting purposes. It's horrible and sickening. To give you an idea of what's going on:
There were shops downstairs and homes upstairs. :/
I've heard stories about a children's hospital and a theatre with a full house being targeted as well, but in Birmingham. I haven't seen any confirmation on news websites, but at this point I wouldn't be surprised if it were true. :/
I understand that the police might have not acted correctly in the shooting. But there is no reason for this. I love London so much and I hate to see how it has changed since last time I was there. I honestly didn't expect this to happen there.
