i'm sitting in a lodge here at fort something-or-other waiting for Pagan to finish getting his ass kicked in a combat test. I'm also keeping housekeeping at bay. this place kind of feels like summer camp- that stark feeling that you're welcome here but under strict conditions.
The Matt & Kim show was completely fucking amazing. Openers, Javelin, totally brought the beat and body-melting bass. Rodney is probably in love with Javelin now, since their shtick is sampling and "covering" nothin' but the '80s. he was in a middle-school-flashback heaven.

the next day seeing Dimmu Borgir w/ Enslaved, Blood Red Throne, and Dawn of Ashes with Steven. the last couple times i had seen Dimmu i had been wholly underwhelmed, and i hadn't been the biggest fan of Enslaved, but i went to get out of the house and hang with steve.
Dawn of Ashes were dressed to the nines like Lordi but taking themselves waayyy too seriously. telling the crowd to maim each other and get fucked. fun!
Blood Red Throne I actually really enjoyed. nice and heavy
Enslaved blew me away. they were so much better live than on CD. absolutely loved their set
Dimmu- the bass doesn't sing anymore??? really great show though. perhaps i can give them another chance.

doot doot dooo. um...i guess i'll do this:
Soundtrack to my liiiifeeee!!!!!!!!! yeah, i'm getting bored.

Opening Credits:
Super Taranta! - Gogol Bordello
(a rollicking good intro. i might get laid in this movie!)

Waking Up:
The New Build - Dark Tranquility
(br00tal awakening, hopefully without a Gummo vibe)

First Day At School:
Shake It Off - Coliseum
(tilted camera angles, overcoming fear- shake it off!!! own this school, fool!)

Falling In Love:
I Can See It In Your Face - Pretty Lights
(i'm stealing this girl and doing so most sexily)

Losing Virginity:
Cesaro Summability - Tool
(screaming babies and guitar drone and noise. this is not sexy. this feels drug-induced and like it ends up with babies. fuck that.)

Fight Song:
Outrageous (Rubal Mix) - Bitter Ruin
(a more endearing kind of fight song. vocals and acoustic guitar. don't really want to fight, just want to make it known my enemy is less.)

Break up:
Albert Goes West - Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds
(going separate ways and losing the way. ending up sick and wholly unwell.)

Prom:
Fuck Police Brutality - Anti-Flag
(i don't remember this song at either prom i went to.)

Life:
Wrong Number (P2P Mix) - The Cure
(sure...)

Mental Breakdown:
People Ain't No Good - Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds
(quietly seething with that boiling-beneath-the-surface hate)

Driving:
Beyond the Apocalypse - 1349
(i guess after the mental breakdown, i get mad for realz and jump in the car to go FSU)

Flashback:
Diminishing Returns - Harvey Danger
(hell is other people and some people never learn...i will meet you at the point of diminishing returns.........so, people really ain't no good)

Getting Back Together:
Auto-Erotic Asphyxiation - Anomalous
(hate-fucking! because everything sucks.)

Wedding:
Long Drive Home - New Year's Revolution
(damn, an actaully sappy song. and everything still sucks. arguing, drinking, and wishing for sleep. yay marriage.)

Birth of Child:
I'm a Fool to Want You - Peggy Lee
(should have aborted.)

Final Battle:
Run Fay Run - Isaac Hayes
(being that this is off the Kill Bill soundtrack, i know this battle would be epic [if tarantino was directing])

Death Scene:
She Hates Me - Richard Cheese & Lounge Against the Machine
(ah, the jazzy hate)

Closing Credits:
Tattered & Torn - Slipknot
(oh dear- shit just went off the chain. good thing the movie's over.)
