Also, I have just found out about this
Now I'm not sure it applies to international students, and in any case the university requires that I have health insurance, but it's pretty interesting. I feel kind of lucky going to such a progressive (for America) city, but also kind of like I'm missing out on the whole crazy experience that is The Rest Of America, San Francisco seems like a city unto itself.
