There is no vendicular machinery anywhere nearby, I am unable to satiate my insane lust for corn syrup and grainy tasting pseudo-chocolate, or 'mock-a-lot', as I have just this moment deigned to describe it.
What is Livejournal coming to? It tells me that a blog blogging a blogger's bed hair is one of the current highlights of the portion of the blogosphere pertaining to sites suffixed with [.livejournal.com]
Tomorrow I awake early, to be working (but who knows where?) at 9. This portion of my day concludes at 1pm. At 1.10pm my Short Story class begins, concluding at 2pm. At 2.10 my Modern American Novel class commences, and continues until 3.25.
Now. This week is the designated International Education Week, as decreed by Bill Clinton to help forge relations between students from America and other cultures. The "highlight" of this is tomorrow afternoon's presidential reception, where we sit and listen to the over-paid president of the university talk for a bit.
Quote:
"It is IMPERATIVE that all J-1 international exchange students attend this event. Essentially, by hosting this reception, the President of SFSU is telling you that international education is important to our campus and that we value your presence. To NOT attend is to send the message that the international exchange students don't care and that it isn't important to either the students themselves or the institutions which you represent. Clearly this is not the message that we, or your institutions, want President Corrigan to recieve from you. In order to reserve a space, we recommend all J-1 students pass by the OIP office prior to noon on Monday, 13 November to sign up"
Now, is it just me, or is there a slight contradiction in attendance being "IMPERATIVE" and the fact that spaces are limited, requiring prior sign-up?
Oh and it is also "semi-formal", so as well as my work uniform and whatever jacket or warm over-clothing I choose to combat the inevitable cold that settles in the moment you step off the Muni at the SFSU stop, regardless of weather conditions elsewhere in the city, I have to bring a smart ish shirt, tie and trousers. I am not a shirt and trousers guy, this is not what I wear regularly. Also they seem to be ignoring the fact that, because we have traveled from all corners of the globe, it is necessary to travel light, and we may not have included said articles of semi formal attire.
Also I am finding it hard to eat at the moment. More on that later.
