Au contraire, I do care. It made me insanely happy that you'd even thought of attempting this just from my comment, and then to have a finished product... *applauds and is in awe*

I won't pretend to understand all of the structure within this poem, but comparing the English with the Eikthali. Two things that made me happy in this were that 1) I could definitely recognize that it was verb final, and seeing as how I'm currently abroad in Japan studying Japanese, whee! and 2) that "grasp" and "closed my hand" were structurally related, even though the English words really are different from one another.

Yes, I really am a linguistics dork, and you really have just made my life. :D

:D Yes! It's SOV. More precisely, I guess it's SO[anythingelse]V, but in cases where the S or O were vague or confusing, I might've messed it up. *shakes head* Seriously, that one long line gave me no end of trouble.

Oh, this is gorgeous. I'm no linguist, but the beauty is plain enough even without the training.

I'm already a mess from the Doctor Who finale. I haven't even gotten to Children of Earth yet. This is making me happier within that universe.

Aw, thanks! :D I really did have fun with this, geeky or no. It's also fun to read out loud; it sounds even better than it looks.

Close! "A Ei" is what I'm translating as "and I." :)

Sorry to spam you tonight, but I just got so excited by this that I started flapping my hands around; I love it when people write invented-language poetry.
