What you need to know is that everyone's garbage cans on my block look essentially the same and thus tend to get mixed up. So my father bought us a red one, sure to stand out from the crowd. Then this happened:
Mom: Whooo-hoo! That is SEXY!
Dad: Thought you'd like it.
Me: I AM IN A PARALLEL UNIVERSE.
Dad: What, you've never made out with a trash receptacle before?
Me: (pauses, reflects on past boyfriends)
Me: ...well, now that you mention it....
