I enjoy it when people are here. There's talking, discussions, much raucous laughter and the sound of a house full of people. George and Teri are here, in case you were wondering from where these thoughts came. It's been a good visit but I've been rather busy. Filming starts again in about a week and I preparing that while working on Passchandaele pre-production.
Working might be the wrong term. "Yelling at Frank to leave me the fuck alone" might be better. He hasn't tried to dissolve the company yet so I think we're still okay.
I talked to some WWI vets and many of their children this past week during the announcement and afterwards. They were grateful that someone wants to tell their story. After so many years, the story of them, or their fathers, brothers, friends, grandfathers will be told. I get to tell the story of my grandfather and I cannot convey how thrilled I am about that. And how terrified. This story...the story of the Great War, as it were - needs to be told and heard. Always has been but perhaps even more right now.
Please god, don't let me fuck it up. After ten years I do hope that I have it down as it should be.
