How strange it is to return to the daily routine of work after less than three weeks away. I can scarcely begin to understand how Frodo felt after a year spent on his Quest, which took him so far from the Shire and from himself. "How do you pick up the threads of an old life", indeed. Waaaah

It had been a long time since I had seen it. It broke my heart all over again, and I cried and cried. For Frodo, for Pippin, for Boromir, for the beauty of it all, for the memories, the nostalgia, for knowing that this will always exist for us, for knowing there will be never be any more of it than we already have. Oh, the beautiful and terrible sweetness and angst of it all!

It's been a long time since I've seen the films--the heart is willing, but "real life" simply won't allow it. I still haven't seen all of the EE of ROTK, so there's a part of me that is very looking forward to that, though there's a small part of me that enjoys the fact that in some small way it's not "completely" over yet for me. I guess it's just the natural extension of the kid in me who always stretched her Halloween and Easter candy out as long as possible, the kid who always wanted to start making Christmas decorations in August...

I'm glad you had a wonderful time, and I'm really looking forward to reading your travelog. What a truly wonderul experience it must have been. :)

(((Niere/Lily))) I miss you! Your life is very busy and complicated, but also, I trust, rich and full of love.

My first NZ trip came a few months after the Vermont Hoot. NZ is inextricably linked to the ladies of the Harem and LOTR fandom in my mind. On both visits, my pictures were taken with an eye toward recording the place for people who couldn't be there and might never go there, so they could have a part of the experience if they wanted. Now I have to get off my butt and post some of them!
