Last Christmas at Home
Well, that was it. yesterday was the last christmas morning that I'll have at home with my mom and brother. My brother just bought a house so he'll be there and next year at this time, I'll be married and having christmas morning with Pete. It's kind of a weird thing to think abotu when it's something that I've been doing for 25 years. I've never had a christmas morning without my mom there. But it's time to start new traditions and I'm looking forward to the changes. I'll still be with my mom on Christmas, just not first thing in the morning.
Anyway, so yesterday was a very full day. My mom woke me up at 9am to get up and get going. We opened our stockings first. I got a portable DVD player with a case, some car cleaning stuff, lots of candy, some gift cards, a wedding planning book and some other stuff that I can't remember right now. Then it was on to the presents. I got a really cool digital photo frame that I"m excited about setting up with pictures. It changes pictures like a slideshow and you just put the pictures on a flash drive or memory card. Way cool!
I also got the northface coat that I wanted, some gift cards, Band of Brothers on DVD which I've wanted for years now. Then I got some other little things.
After present time, it was time to clean the house because family would be coming over in a few hours. I mopped the hallway and cleaned the bathroom. Fun stuff on Christmas morning! But it looks really nice now, so that's good. Anyway, so we got the house cleaned up and then around one, Pete came over. We opened the presents that we got for each other and for my brother and mom. he got some cool tools and a grill set and some other stuff. He got me a flash drive, a tigers hat that I really wanted and a subscription to XM radio because it expires next month.
Then the family started arriving. My Aunt Kim and Uncle Mike and there kids all came over, with the exception of my cousin Josh who is over in Iraq with the Marines. Then my Grama came over too. We ate a lot of food and then busted out the Chocolate Fountain for dessert. Yum!!!
After we digested a little bit we all took a field trip over to see my brothers new house. I hadn't been inside yet. It's a really nice looking house with plenty of room! He has a lot of work to put into it, but it's going to be really nice once that's all done.
We headed back to our house and I said goodbye and Pete and I headed off to his Aunt and Uncle's house for their Christmas dinner. It works out well because we've always eaten early around 2ish and they don't eat until 6 or 7. So we are able to do two christmas's in one day. So we sat around there for awhile hanging out and then dinner time came. It was some good food, second time that day!
Then after dinner we put in Talledaga Nights and watched some of that until they declared it present time and we shut it off for that. I got a purse from his aunt and uncle and a goblet that I take communion from for our wedding ceremony from his Yia Yia.
I was exhausted by this point so we packed things up and headed back home. It was a very long day, full of good family, and good food, and presents!
The night before I had went with Pete to the Lions game were unfortunately they lost a close one to the Bears. It was a fun game though to go to. Then we went to his Family's house for dinner and presents there. After dinner and presents we put in Cars to watch but I was just sooo tired that I ended up falling asleep on the couch while watching it. I guess that means that I feel comfortable around them!
Anyway... that's about it for now. This week I'm going to try and get the DJ booked for our wedding, clean up my room and get ready for the next semester of grad school. So far I have two grades back, and that is two A's. I have another email from my professor saying that I got a B in the other class, but it's yet to be posted. I'm actually really excited for the B because that class really kicked my butt and I was hoping to pull off at least a B-. Now I"m just waiting for one more grade to be posted and I'll be all set. I think i did fairly well for my first semester in grad school and I'm looking forward to this next semester where I'll actually be in a school teaching for half of the day. I need to go out and shop for some clothes to wear in school. I don't have that many things that I can wear that are appropriate for a teacher.
Ok, I'm out! This entry has been too long already. Next time I'll post about how my stupid car got sideswiped and I have to get it fixed... grrrr
