Just when I was feeling good about my future plans, doubt decides it's time for him to crash at my place cause his girlfriend kicked him out.
For a while I have said that I didn't want to go from undergraduate to graduate school, because I want to work, live with my boy for longer than a few months and test my opportunities and passions. But now I am reading about the careers in writing and education and talking to my friends from school and many of them are going to grad school. Would I be jeopardizing my career or my future if I don't go to grad school now? Will it be possible to do it later? How am I going to do out of the academic realm? I have also been thinking about the job search after school. I am worried about not knowing where I am going to end up (although this is also exciting as well). I think about what life would be like if I didn't have something keeping my in Austin. I could travel, do live in another country and not worry about the consequences. But I guess I already have. And my relationship is not a limitation, in fact it is one of the only things that holds me together in times like these. Ramiro has said that he doesn't want to move, but if needs be, he will go wherever I need to go. I simply have no idea. I feel behind. I really do want to be (eventually) a successful writer, and yet I reallly havn't taken the initiative to submit work to magazines or other publications. What am I going to do when I leave school and I don't have good criticism and guidance coming my way about my writing?
This is what is floating around in my mind daily as of late. I know that it will work out, life always works out, and I know I am smart and capable and responsible. I just don't want to give up on a dream, waking up later on in life and wondering why I hate my job. I don't know. I guess I am simply frightened of the future. Welcome to the club, I am sure will be the phrase coming my way. Lets make t-shirts.
On another note, I am selling my scanner and printer. The scanner is like new, rarely used, same with the Canon printer, which is small and great for smaller work spaces, although it needs ink. If I get no offers, I will sell them on craigslist or to peeps in Atlanta. So, if you are interested, let me know.
