I've been reading a lot of reviews of last night's Oscars and, I have to say, I thought Seth McFarlane did pretty well and I am not usually a fan of his. I do think he can be funny, but I also think he can be really disgusting. His shock humor can really gross me out. (I can't watch Family Guy anymore.) So watching him last night, I was not surprised at some of his below-the-belt jokes. But I actually thought it was pretty tame compared to some of the things I've seen from him. And aren't most all Oscar jokes pretty groan worthy?
I'm not sure I understand all the rage about The Boob Song. I'm a woman, I have boobs and I was not in any way offended. I laughed my ass off. I mean, it's not like he was singing about MY boobs and honestly, was he saying anything that wasn't true? We HAVE seen these actresses' boobs. If you saw Titantic, you saw Kate Winslet's bare chest. Whoop-dee-do. That fact that some guy is singing about boobs we indeed have seen on stage should not be so enraging. He's a comedian. It's their job to poke fun and make people laugh about ridiculous things. I mean, if we can't laugh at ourselves, what have we got?
And honestly, this is Seth McFarlane. Did anyone really expect anything less? I mean, what were people expecting?
If we want to talk about things we should be offended by, I think the better choice would be
the Onion's bad taste tweet from last night concerning a 9-year-old girl and the word "cunt".
