Well, I was hoping to post this evening, but ran out of time. We had our first snow of the season today. It snowed on May 12, so we didn't even get a six month break from snow. Ahh well.. What can ya do?
*chuckles* Well, if you are looking for falling snow (or any snow), this is the place to see it. I would say it's an anomaly to get snow so late and so early. However, I would say it is definitely not anomalous to see snowfall between November and April. According to the locals, we've had mild winters ever since I moved here. However, an article I read said that this winter could be ugly... I've been trying to train my body to avoid thinking that the current weather is cold. So far, so good... but we haven't seen any bitterly cold temperatures yet either, even over the last few days.
Snow itself is very peaceful and beautiful. What's annoying about it to me is having to drive through it and scrape it (and the ice/frost) off of your car. The former is annoying because I just want to be safe when I drive and not worry about road conditions, or other crazy drivers. The latter is annoying because it can feel like a waste of time to scrape your car for 15 minutes in the morning. I don't have to shovel it since I live in an apartment (though sometimes I do anyway since the apartment owners don't always take care of it, and it can get really deep). I think if I had to shovel for every storm in the winter, it might get tiresome.
Anyway, it's not really that bad... If I were totaly worried about the driving conditions and scraping, I would just take the bus instead of complaining. Driving is a convenience. I haven't played in snow for a long time. It might be fun to do that again, though it's sort of weird to do that as an adult by yourself, especially if you don't have your own yard. ;)
The snow will probably be all melted by this weekend, but don't worry... It'll be back. :}
