Drabble Time!

Found this on computer, decided to whip into shape instead of working on essay. This is totally my shameless wanky rebuttal to all those fics that have Sephiroth and Cloud magically know each other in some meaningful way pre-Nibelheim. There's a Sephiroth part as well, which will need more work to be whipped into shape before I post it, and a little pretentious metaphory meta intro which we can probably all live without. I have a horrible lurking suspicion that I may have been reading Responsive at the time and wrote this to vent.

The Great General Sephiroth has never met Cloud Strife save, arguably, in passing. In these scenarios Cloud must be little more than a moving golden blur to the other man as he sprints past on a drill, sweating and crammed in among other troopers while the Silver General strides across the parade ground to do something important. On a few occasions he’s had the privilege of instead being a stationary golden blur, standing and saluting for his officer at some large event with the rest of the division, the corps, and the army. When the General’s eyes scan the faces of those below he holds his breath, and the boy who left Nibelheim might have allowed himself to hope to be spotted, but even though Sephiroth is a great leader, a good general, and knows all his men, he is massed in with five hundred other insignificant troopers, and besides his dream is dead. So until Zack, grinning, brings him his dispatch orders, this is the sole extent of Cloud Strife’s interaction with the General.

O-oh god I have an essay due first period. D :
