Digimon Frontier Character Descriptions

May 02, 2005 23:28

Alright, I'm bored enough to not do my homework, so I'm going to give you a full character description of the Chosen Children of the Fourth Season of Digimon, otherwise known as Digimon Frontier.

In my opinion, this season as well as the movie had the best effects, colors, and drawing style. Plotwise, it was alright at the end when Lucemon appeared, but the "find Cherubimon and the 10 Ancient Spirits" section WAS a little weak, although it filled up some plot holes. In general, I think (of course I think), this was the best season as far as total effect. A lot of viewers were very shocked/surprised/stunned when Duskmon was revealed as Kouji's older twin brother, Kouichi. This season did not emphasize on pairings, although Izumi proved as 'resident sex appeal/love appeal' and seemed to have been seen shipped with one of the five boys at least once, probably excluding Tomoki because he is three years younger than her, but you catch my drift: i.e., the episode in which Kouji, Takuya, Junpei, and Tomoki turn very red after Izumi hugs them all.

Background info/Brief Summary: Takuya finds himself on a train to the Digital World! When they get there, they are joined by Bokomon and Neemon almost instantly, and Takuya finds his Human spirit. The kids that join him gain their spirits, and they must go to the Rose Morning Star, at the advice of Ophanimon, the second of the Three Great Angels (Seraphimon, & Cherubimon), and they find their beast spirits before that, so they're in the nick of their strengths. Seraphimon is destroyed, and his Digitama is nursed by Bokomon and eventually hatches into Patamon. They purify the evil warriors, that were taken by Cherubimon and made into evil warriors. After they're gone, a new enemy, another evil warrior, by the name of Duskmon, is the most powerful of them all, even when Takuya and Kouji double spirit evolve. Duskmon turns out to be Kouji's brother, Kouichi, and the impure spirits of Darkness are purified and Kouichi fills in the gap as the last Chosen Child, and proves himself worthy when he defeats a Cherubimon projection. They arrive at the Rose Morning Star, and Ophanimon is waiting for them to save her and Cherubimon, the Digimon with the black heart, like in the first second season movie. Ophanimon buys the Chosen Children some time, and then upgrades Takuya's and Kouji's D-Scans so Takuya and Kouji could "Hyper Spirit Evolution", and they defeat Cherubimon. They meet up with IceDevimon, who wants to scan them, and freezes Fairymon and Blitzmon, and freeze Takuya's and Kouji's D-Scans because he wanted the 'harder fight to come later'. Kouichi and Tomoki, now in their Beast hybrid evolutions, have Kouichi's determination free Fairymon and Blitzmon, and it is Kouichi that purifies IceDevimon. Just as they thought they could go home soon, the Chosen Children are thrust into the world of the of the Royal Knights, Dynasmon and LordKnightmon, two megas sent by Lucemon himself (the one who controlled the Digital World in its start), and battle the Chosen Children, throwing them to the moon. They build a rocket and go back, just as the Royal Knights are scanning bits and pieces of the land of the Digital World, which is disappearing every day. They are determined to revive their master, Lucemon, and want the key to the Human World so they could rule it. The Royal Knights are extremely powerful, and there are many near misses. When they get back, the Chosen Children find a group of kids with Angemon protecting them, under rule of Ophanimon. These children don't have spirits, and only stood by because they did not want to go back to the Human World when Ophanimon pleaded that the remaining children at the Trailmon station were to return home. Two of them were also the jerks that pushed Tomoki into the Trailmon in the first place. But this kid doesn't hold a grudge, and even saves their lives. The Beanstalk of Friendship is scanned, and Angemon is dead. The group of children decide to go back to the real world, fearing a bit for the safety of the Chosen Children who remained behind to save the two worlds from deletion and rule. Kouichi and Kouji recognize each other as brothers, and glow very close, although there is something bothering Kouichi. When the Chosen Children are in their human forms and very badly injured so much that their Digicode appears, why doesn't Kouichi's? And during that kind of encounter, why is it that Kouichi isn't hurt at all, while the others are cut up and bruised pretty badly? LordKnightmon gives him the answer: Kouichi is just a spirit. He fell down a long flight of stairs and landed himself with a coma in the Human World. He sinks into a long, dark period of depression, and only Bokomon and Neemon know. For the moment. With that going on, the Royal Knights are closing in on the Digicode, and Lucemon is ready to awaken as soon as the last of the Digicode is scanned. Many of the Digitama at the Town of Beginnings are saved by several Trailmon, and the Gotsumon and Kouji vow to stop the Royal Knights. There are only two places left that haven't been scanned - the Ahika Market, which the kids fail to save, and Ophanimon's library. The key to the Digicode is through Ophanimon's palace guard, Nefertimon, and the kids struggle to save her but fail! Kouji and Takuya "Hyper Spirit Evolution!" and defeat the Royal Knights, but the one who scans their data is none other than the inevitable Lucemon! Lucemon takes their data and evolves into Lucemon Falldown Mode! The Digital World, completely destroyed, as the kids take refuge on one of the three moons and find two Digitamas, which hatch into Plotmon and Lopmon! Reunited, Patamon, Lopmon, and Plotmon, the Child forms of the Mega Seraphimon, Ophanimon, and Cherubimon, the Three Great Angels are together once more. Lucemon seizes his chance to destroy the moons, and Digitama float around without any place to go because the Town of Beginnings was gone. Kouji and Takuya are caught in the blast, but Patamon, Lopmon, and Plotmon save them from the attack and are taken to the larger meteor where Kouichi, Izumi, Junpei, Tomoki, Bokomon, and Neemon are on. Kouichi and Kouji wander off to the edge of it talking, and Kouichi tells Kouji about their mother. Bokomon tells the rest of the Chosen Children, although he promised Kouichi that he wouldn't tell, that Kouichi was just a spirit, and that he didn't have a body in the Digital World. The kids wonder if they could do anything for Kouichi, and Kouichi asks Kouji to visit their mother when they return to the Human World. He makes Kouji swear it, and Kouji is nervous and doesn't understand why Kouichi would ask him of such a thing. Lucemon is building his bridge to the Human World, and says that Hikari (light) and Yami (dark) could never be one, although he has the ability to take that power and kill off whatever got in the way. The Chosen Children head towards him, Tomoki, Izumi, Kouichi, and Junpei in their Human hybrid forms, while Kouji and Takuya "Double Spirit Evolution!" Lucemon picks them off, one by one, or two by two as in Chakmon's and Fairymon's case, and sort of throws off Kouichi's Lowemon form, and then he uses the light to ensnare the remaining kids in pain, and then throws dark at them, which causes them to scream and yell and become human again, but in great, devastating pain. Lucemon's hand glows white with Hikari again, and then envelops Kouji, Takuya, Junpei, Izumi, and Tomoki while Lowemon watches helpless. No, not helpless. He jumps in front just as Lucemon Falldown Mode unleashes Yami, and catches it, and lets it take him instead. The Hikari goes around him too, and Lowemon, severely weakened, thanks the rest of the Chosen Children even if he hadn't known them long. The orb of power disappears, and Kouichi is aglow with light, while his brother and friends are devastated when Kouichi told them he might not be able to see them in the real world. He sacrificed his spirit, or his data or whatever. Kouichi flies down towards his brother, and gives him the spirits of Darkness. Kouichi then says he's grateful for coming to the Digital World, and then Lucemon scans him. Kouji doubles over, mumbling "Kou...ichi", and is sort of clutching his stomach. Lucemon laughs and says that a human can't make Darkness and Light become one, and then Takuya calls him a bastard and wraps himself and Kouji in flame, who screams, and they become Susanoomon. Susanoomon defeats Lucemon Falldown Mode, who evolves and becomes Lucemon Satan Mode! He vows to destroy both of the worlds and flies away. The kids are very anguished, and they find themselves in the train terminal that started their journey. Takuya gives in to trying to lift the fallen elevator, and Agnimon appears and helps him. They all evolve again, this time to their double spirits and their human spirits. They go after Lucemon Satan Mode, who keeps recovering after each hit. Kouji and Takuya go after the dark orb he is holding and find Lucemon Larvae, the actual brains behind the idiot. They attack him and Lucemon Satan Mode disappears, but Lucemon Larvae is ready to attack. He won't die unless the kids do. The Ten Ancient Warriors separate themselves from the kids, and Lucemon Larvae is destroyed. The Warriors throw the kids into the steadily closing wormhole of Lucemon's, and on the way, Kouji's D-Scan activates and Lowemon tells him that Kouichi is still alive, even though they are separated; he still knows. The kids nod and Takuya remembers Kouichi's fall and they run down there, only to find to cops. "My brother! Onii-san! Kouichi!" They rush into the emergency room, where the doctors are trying to re-start Kouichi's heart, which has stopped. Kouji begins crying, and then all of the D-Scans perform their last miracle: Saving Kouichi's life. The brothers hold each other crying, and everyone is relieved. Tomoki earns friends and isn't a crybaby anymore. Junpei makes friends without just having to impress them, and Izumi makes friends also. Takuya makes up for his brother's birthday party, and Kouji and Kouichi go to meet their mother. They all say how they got closer to their friends and families and will be friends forever.

Anyway, onto character descriptions.

Kanbara Takuya
Ah, look, it's the fourth goggle head of the Digimon series. He's a combination of the sometimes density of Season 02's own Daisuke, although less extreme, and Season 03's soft spoken Takato. Daisuke, for a bit of background information, has the Digimentals of Friendship, Courage, and as seen in movie three: Digimental of Miracles. Daisuke is dense, and although can be a good leader, isn't. He's just the image because of the goggles. In reality, Hikari and Takeru, which are the battle hardened 'babies' of 01 become the shadows of leaders in 02. Daisuke, in my opinion, is the worst leader out of all four seasons. Takato, for some background information, is the leader of the group of Tamers. The Tamers were kids that watched Digimon (1 & 2) on television. Takato finds his Digimon, Guilmon, and is a pretty serious kid. He loves his friends and cares about them very deeply, and is a pretty serious kid. When he gets angry, sometimes it unleashes a side of Takato that only hot-headed Takuya can compare with. Takato is a sweet kid, and doesn't seem the leader type, but is the only formidable one in Season 03, because of Ruki's attitude and the inability to understand what the hell Jenrya means. Jenrya, in the beginning is the Digimon-Pacifist. So, where am I getting to this? Alright, then. Basically Takuya is the fusion of those two characters (though more like Takato to an extreme extent, although Takuya has Daisuke's personality, although less extreme to an even greater extent). He lives in Shibuya, a region in Tokyo, has a little brother, square-ish goggles, and an annoying hat. He was born three months after Izumi, as she kindly pointed out. Takuya can be very insecure and one time he even went home because he didn't want to hurt his friends. He and Kouji, although they hated each other from the beginning, share some kind of a bond, and they both "Ancient Spirit Evolution!" together, forming Susanoomon in the 48th episode. All in all, Takuya is a good friend and leader, and sometimes his mind is corrupted with density.

His hybrid element is Fire, and his Human Hybrid spirit is Agnimon, and his Beast Hybrid spirit is Vritramon. He has the ability to combine his spirits into a "Double Spirit Evolution", which simply lets his Human Hybrid and Beast Hybrid spirits combine to become one. That form is called Aldamon. A new spirit was born when Takuya combined the powers of Fire, Ice, Wind, Wood, and Earth to create KaiserGreymon, obviously a combination of all of those Hybrid and Beast spirits. He and Kouji fusion shinka'd, and became Susanoomon to try and slow down Lucemon Chaos Mode (Falldown Mode).

Takuya found himself in the Digital World after receiving a message on his cellphone asking him if he wanted to play a game. Of course, he complied, after numerous attempts from his mother (it was his 'touto-chan [little brother]'s birthday) to get him to stay home, Takuya jumps into an elevator, onto a train, and out of the way of a truck.

He is guessed to be second youngest of the group. He is 11 and is in the Fifth Grade in the Original Japanese version, but is, for some reason, Sixth Grade in the dub.

Minamoto Kouji
As the resident lone wolf, Kouji is afraid of making friends. He's very good looking (er...), and has that cool essence around him. He's very passive, and doesn't talk much. He's a good guy and is protective of his friends, especially his 'dear older twin brother', Kouichi. Kouji cares very deeply for his onii-san, and during his battle as Beowulmon against Duskmon, Kouji gets his first glance of Kouichi and sinks into a period of confusion and borderline depression. He's got HORRIBLE issues with his father, and used to have even worse issues with his stepmother, believing his real mother was dead (untrue), and that Kousei (Kouji and Kouichi's biological father), used Satomi (Kouji's step mother) as a replacement. Kouji is known to have certain insecurities, when faced with the dangers of endangering/hurting his friends, and sometimes he hesitates to let his friends come to any danger. He proves this by grabbing Takuya by the collar and demanding that no harm would come to Junpei, Izumi, or Tomoki. Kouji's parents were divorced, although Tomoko (biological mother) was supposed to have been dead. He's switched schools MANY MANY TIMES.

Kouji is at most, a copy of Yamato, the season one's 'lone wolf', or 'angst child', although Kouichi fills in the position of 'angst child'. Yamato and Kouji are surprisingly the same personality though. Yamato's crest was Friendship, and that meant he cared about everyone (OTOUTO-CHAN TAKERU COUGHCOUGH), and really didn't show it. Yamato is angst kid because of his dark feelings and even leaves his friend in a soul-searching mission towards the end of Season 1. He's a lone wolf too, with the same passive-ness as Kouji, which wears off in Season 2 where Yamato become a complete flirt show with Sora, the most distateful of Female Digimon characters. Kouji, however, seems more passive than Yamato was. But they care very DEEPLY, hinthintemphasis about their friends, and even step in to save the day once in a while. Sometimes Kouji shuns his friends and fights alot on his own, but that's mostly to "save" their lives. Kouji is smart, brave, and witty, although he's so quiet and indifferent and does not own goggles (although his ponytail ohmogz it's hot, and his bandana make up for it), so he's so not the leader type.

Kouji's element is Light, and his Human Hybrid spirit is Wolfmon (who saw that coming?) and his beast spirit is Garmmon. He too has the ability to combine his spirits, and into the souped up version called Beowulfmon (jesus, the people at toei weren't kidding when they meant to emphasize a lone wolf kid). He becomes MagnaGarurumon with the spirits of Light, Darkness, Water, Thunder, and Steel. He and Takuya merge to become Susanoomon to help slow down Lucemon Chaos Mode (Falldown Mode).

Kouji got to the Digital World, squared with Takuya. He was *about* to buy flowers for his stepmother, because he felt bad for some reason or another, but decided to follow the thing in his cellphone. He ignored Takuya in the beginning, thought he was some kind of nuisance, and didn't speak a word to him like the asshole he was. He jumped on a different Trailmon (train, FYI), and joins the group at like, the sixth episode. He's eleven, born several minutes after Kouichi and in the 5th grade in the Original, but like the dubbing Takuya, he wound up in 6th grade in English School. I suck at jokes.

Orimoto Izumi
Welcome, most powerful female character, Izumi! She's a mix of Ruki's (03) cool, tomboyish, passive, impassive, tough as nails attitude, Sora's (01 & 02) love interests, Mimi's (01 & 02) vanity, and Hikari's (01 & 02) feelings of sixth sense, Miyako's (01 & 02) bubbly and outgoing personality. She's unafraid of speaking her mind, and chooses her words very carefully, although you get Miyako's personality and she can be show-offy. In truth, Izumi had the most trouble making friends out of all of the Chosen Children, and had zero friends back in Shibuya, or Shinjuku, I don't remember which district she lived in. Izumi's very pretty, and has captured the love interest of Junpei (god, they were rocketing back to the Digital World and gravity was low and Izumi's skirt was falling up and Junpei kept staring), Kouji (who doesn't admit it or show any signs of it besides the times Izumi shows it, but then again, he SEEMS indifferent, but is probably turning red on the inside), Takuya (as seen in episode 47, he goes "I LIKE YOU, IZUMI" but then fixes his mistake by going "But not as in like-like), Kouichi (same deal with Kouji), and some viewers guess Tomoki, because he turns BRIGHT RED when Izumi hugs him and Junpei that one episode. So basically, Izumi is sex appeal for everyone. Being the only girl, she's got THE FREAKING TOUGHEST/SOFTEST attitude I have ever seen. If you squash all of the girls (minus Juri - that girl's disturbed) together, you get Izumi.

Izumi's element is Wind. Her Human hybrid form is Fairymon, whose official picture's pose looks exactly like Mimi's official picture pose. My guess is that they painted over Mimi, to form the very pink/purply Fairmon. Her Beast hybrid form is Shutumon, who's apparently the best looking female Digimon out there (as Junpei shows with his eyes all heart-shaped), and by several of the Digimon. Izumi lived in Italy for two years and returned to Japan, and uses Italian (which doesn't even sound like Italian) into her every day vocabulary and attack names. "Tornado Gamba!" is a great example of that.

Izumi got to the Digital World through the same ordeal - message on cell phone about a train and a game, and she winds up on the train with Takuya, Junpei (who offers her chocolate), and a gently crying Tomoki. She's three months older than Takuya, in the Original she's in 5th grade, and in the Dub she's in 6th, yadda yadda. I say sex appeal.

Himi Tomoki
There you have him, resident Takeru of the fourth season. Tomoki is VERY MUCH LIKE TAKERU was when Takeru was chibi and small and eight. Tomoki is a bit of a crybaby, and has an older brother named Yukata who thinks his little brother is a jerk. For some background information, Takeru, like Hikari and his brother, becomes a world class flirt in the second season, where the aim of his and Hikari's flirting is to get Daisuke jealous (who had this HUGE crush on Hikari). Takeru used to be small, innocent, and a crybaby. Tomoki is a bit like him. He's a CRYBABY, and is small, and I guess you could say innocent. What I mean by "I guess you could say", I mean, what kind of eight year old wants a romantic hug from a girl three years older than him? Anyway, Tomoki is a computer/jigsaw puzzle expert, because no one ever plays with him because he would cry. He's not a strong character, and I mean like, mentally strong, not a 'strong important character' or 'weakling', because he can turn a pretty decent size bigger in his Beast Spirit.

Tomoki's element is Ice, and his Human Hybrid spirit is Chakmon (who is adorable because he looks like a bear), and Blizzarmon is his Beast Hybrid spirit, which is this huge... horned animal standing erect. Tomoki's attack when he's in Human Hybrid mode is cute. It's called "Icicle Lala" and is performed by "Kachi kachi Kocchin!"

Tomoki got to the Digital World by the help of some bullies, which pushed him (crying) into a Trailmon. He grows up a bit in the series, even witnesses death and kills on his own. I believe Tomoki is the one that scans Digicode the least out of everyone.

Shibayama Junpei
Here we go, the one who will be Diabetic and obese when he grows up: Junpei. He's got a fetish for chocolate bars, and continues to replenish his supply throughout the series. He doesn't have a similarity to many of the characters in any other season, but I can see him a bit like Tamers' Hirokazu. They both like to show off - Hirokazu's Digimon card gaming skills, and Junpei's magic tricks and too many chocolate bars. He has a HUGE CRUSH on Izumi, like major major major, but knows that Izumi is more romantically 'with' Takuya and Kouji. Junpei is a nice guy, just show-offy and loud-mouthy. He's a bit more like Ron from Harry Potter, really.

Junpei's element is thunder. His Human Hybrid evolution is Blitzmon, while his Beast hybrid evolution is Bolgmon. Both of them look rather machine-y, and Bolgmon just looks like a tank with a human torso and head.

Junpei got to the Digital World with the cellphones, and really isn't as important as any other character. In my opinion, he's the worst character portrayed, and the most ordinary.

Kimura Kouichi
Angst kid Kouichi is seriously adorable. He knew about Kouji because his grandmother (dead) told him, and Kouichi, being the shy, soft-spoken guy he is, started stalking his brother. His mother is downright poor, and works many jobs to support Kouichi. Kouichi is like a Ken from season 02 of Digimon, because of Kouichi's old spirits of darkness. He killed aimlessly, like Ken did, and even hurt his brother and friends very very badly. Ken also hurt his friends, very very badly. They're both very passive and dark, and both of them have a history. Ken's brother Osamu died of a car crash, and Ken joined Ryo to defeat Milleniumon in the Digimon game, Tag Tamers, and was struck with a Dark Seed, and became very ill and became dark. Kouichi has so many bad and dark memories that Cherubimon fed off of them and gave Kouichi the monetum and sadness to hurt his friends. Kouichi wouldn't do it on purpose of course - he's very selfless. He has offered to give up his life more than once to save his friends (one time actually succeeding), and is very very quiet. The Royal Knight LordKnightmon told him that the reason his Digicode didn't show up was because he didn't have any: he was a spirit, with a body that was in a coma in the Human World! This sent Kouichi into a period of dark depression. Whatever it was, Kouji, being the good younger brother, tried his best to comfort his brother, but Kouichi pushed him and everyone else away, but they find out, especially against a battle with Lucemon Falldown Mode. Lowemon, Kouichi's Human form, was watching his friends going to die before him, and went in front, and actually gave up his spirit/life force/data to save his friends. In that point in time, Kouichi in the Real World's heart stopped or something. Remember, Digital World Time and Human World Time are different. Kouichi is a very unselfish character, and is very protective of his little twin brother Kouji and vice versa.

Kouichi's element is Darkness, which Patamon tries to say to him when he's sitting on a Trailmon alone that Darkness and Light aren't evil, but they are one, and it must be true because of his twin, Kouji. Kouichi willingly gives up his life, which is a bit too admirable but we all love him anyway, and he is resurrected by Kouji's tear and the light of the D-Scans, which turned back into cellphones after that. Kouichi's Human hybrid is Lowemon, and his Beast hybrid is KaiserLeomon.

Kouichi doesn't remember how he got in the Digital World. His friends ask him, and they remember the incident very clearly, but Kouichi just remembers waking up into darkness. Cherubimon fed off his dark feelings and created new spirits out of the pure spirits of Darkness. Kouichi doesn't remember because after he lost his step and fell head over heels off of the top of a long staircase, Kouichi said "K...Kouji..." and fell unconscious. The reason he was running was to find his brother, whom he had seen in an elevator (and Takuya flying into it), and his brother. Realizing he was too late, Kouichi ran for dear life to find his dear otouto-chan, and then fell into a coma and into the Digital World.

...
These took long enough. I'm not crazy, I swear.
