Well, my official last day was yesterday and they gave me a really cool going away party. It was superhero themed and they even made me a felt necklace shaped like Superman's symbol but that said SC for Super Chad. It was a very nice going away shindig. As I walked out the door though it was a great feeling and I am still in an amazing mood.
I have an on-campus interview for an Assistant Director of Residential Life at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore, MD next Thursday. They are even covering $200 of the ticket up front which is pretty cool in my opinion. A lot of places won't pay you back unless they don't offer or offer and you accept. Its a quick turn around so not sure about that one although Baltimore could be cool.
I also just got an email today requesting a phone interview from University of Chicago so thats also a plus. It makes me feel like I am actually a competent professional in my field because there are seriously days where you question your value as a professional. At this point, both of the promising prospects both seem interested in me. I would like either job, my biggest fear is that Johns Hopkins will offer way early before I even get a chance to on-campus for University of Chicago and I would really like to be able to make a good strong decision on that one but who knows I suppose.
I should also mention that yesterday, also my last day of work, I went to Coffman Union and got to meet Bruce Campbell (of army of Darkness, Evil dead, etc...) which was amazing. I got a picture taken and now have to hold onto the disposable camera closely that I used because I don't want to screw that up. He autographed one of his books for me.
I have to admit he is just as damnably cool in person as he is on the screen. The place was swamped and I was next in line, walked up to him and while he was signing I just mentioned that I quit my job and he asked where I was thinking of heading. I told him that I had an on-campus for Johns Hopkins and he said and I quote, "Well, la-te-da" How flipping awesome is that...? It was an amazing day for me...like very, very cool.
