Title: This is the One
Pairing: 5927
Summary: It took you ten years to realize what you were feeling. By then, it was too late.
Author's Notes: This is dedicated to my partner, amusinglydead. SHE IS THE GOKUDERA TO MY TSUNA.

This is the one.

That's what you thought when you looked at her. She was always so cute, so nice, so delicate. You wanted nothing more than to just wrap your arms around her and hold her. You wanted her to notice you. You wanted her to smile and laugh with you. You wanted her to love you as much as you loved her.

You were getting closer and closer until finally…

"I'll follow you anywhere, Tenth!!"

Your chances were ruined.

That's what you thought when you looked at him. You didn't want anything to do with what everyone was forcing on you. You wanted to be a normal teenage boy with a normal teenage girlfriend. But the silver haired boy at your right hand side was constantly reminding you of how that was never going to happen. It wasn't that you disliked the boy, no far from it. You valued him as a friend and a classmate, but it was clear by the way that he followed you everywhere that it was not what he had in mind.

But when you think about it then, you were slightly to blame. Whenever the boy wasn't at your side, you felt off and out of your element. You found yourself missing the trouble he would cause with his short temper. You'd think about that smile of his that spoke of utter devotion and it made you want to frown and smile at the same time.

When he was with you, you didn't have time to think about such trivial things because you were too busy trying to keep up with the boy's eager and demanding persona and he was trying to please you as much as he could.

Days passed. Months passed. Years passed.

You never really quite got used to it. You learned how to predict his movements, his reactions, but he still caught you by surprise sometimes.

As you sit at your desk, filing some paper work, you realize then that you haven't thought of her for a long time. But that thought is driven from your mind as quickly as it came when he walks in with a bright smile on his lips and more forms in his hands.

Its hard work, but you can tell that there's nowhere he'd rather be.

But you've always been oblivious. You've always been too slow. Because it's only when you're laying in his arms, bleeding from a gunshot wound and dying, and the tears flowing from his eyes land on your own cheeks, and he's screaming, gripping onto you, pleading for you not to leave him…

Oh.

This is the one.

That's what you thought when you looked at him.
