I was nine years old, hanging out at my friend Kellen's house. Thats where I learned to play D&D. Sixteen years later, Im sitting at home planning to call Kellen (who now goes by "Flip" to everyone but his parents and I) to see if he wants to hang out.

Without Gary Gygax this likely wouldnt have been possible. I owe almost all of my friendships to this man in one way or another. Without D&D I likely never would have gotten into Magic, L5R, and any other role playing game. I live with 3 friends who I know from gaming, I have dozens of other friends in Los Angeles and Seattle who I met at game stores or conventions, or tournaments.

I dont know how my life would have been different without the products Gary Gygax and his associates produced but I am quite sure it would have been less fun. I cant answer the question that everyone seems to be asking: "How has Gary Gygax and D&D affected your life?" because I dont know, I cant imagine a life where I didnt play that game and other and make all of my friends. So Ill just say this:

R.I.P. Gary Gygax 1938-2008
Co-Creator of Dungeons and Dragons
Thanks for all the friendships I have made because of your work.
