Snow Days

The past few days have been wonderful. While I'll admit, I'm ready for the snow to go it's mainly because it makes getting around 50% more difficult which is hard enough with a baby. But that aside, I've had 5 wonderful days home with Mugs and Chris. Both Chris and I worked as best we could. He's already set up to work from home and I did a pretty good job of managing through email.

The highlight has definitely been the extra time with Mugs. We fell into our weekend routine of getting up together, having breakfast, breaking for a nap (her, not me), lunch, snacks and lots and lots of play time. It was a blast and it was hard to go back into the office this morning - for both of us. She crawled after me as I left the daycare which was sad enough to break my heart. I know that she'll settle back into being there though unfortunately her teacher couldn't make it in so she's dealing with a sub.

Of course, this time also gave me a greater appreciation for teachers, daycare providers and SAHMs. Lydia is in constant motion these days rarely stopping for anything and into everything! My day was all about following behind her, letting her explore as much as is safe. She discovered a few new tricks - pulling all the books off the book shelves (and we have a lot of books), crawling through the underside of the dining room chairs and ending up under the liquor cabinet (she got very frustrated when she couldn't figure out how to get back out) and taking all of the bows off the Christmas presents. We spent a fair amount of time crawling after Zeva who has learned to get out of the way and exploring the printer in Daddy's office. By the end of the day I was tired and found myself wondering how daycare workers chase after 3-4 kids at a time. I'm glad I have just the one!

We are counting down the days to her first Christmas and despite some of the frustration are glad that it will be a white one.

I hope that everyone is enjoying the weather, staying warm and that they get to their holiday destinations with as little trouble as possible! Happy Holidays!
