The squids and I sojourned to points even farther Northwest than we currently reside to the Bay of Birch for camping and water park. Herself Med-Fested Sat & Sun. Readers of her blog may read about it there. Suffice it to say she was glowing at our reunion last night.
As far as the camping went, we co-camped with Ocean Girls's family so I was not triple teamed the entire weekend. Her boys are 9 & 6 plus foster Gabby @ 2. It was a fair mix with my 12, 8 & 5. Nature walks, beach combing, campfires.
There was only a few of those special camping moments that make your ass pucker up:
~ 5 yo coming 1 cm from skewering her left eye along with her marshmallow.
~ Ocean Girl shoe-stringing 2 yo as she tumbled out of the camp chair toward the substantial fire in the fire pit.
~ Dog chasing squirrel, trailing rope drags empty camp chair into less substantial but still burning fire... only mesh cup holder was lost.
Otherwise... it was the minimum amount of work required to hold down a camp site; which can be considerable under the wrong conditions. We benefited from:
~ Fair, rainless skies, mild temperatures,
~ little or no road noise,
~ few mosquitoes; which was surprising considering htat we were but a half a click from the marsh.
~ and, GET THIS, no fights and no discernible whining.
I even got two guitar sessions. Yes. The camping was fine.
The Water Park was... typical. for 13 bones a head?
Four fast tube assisted slides for 10 yo+
A wider river tube for single tubes, double and triple rafts. We were able to get all four of us on a triple raft.
A 8 foot wide, 10 yard long, 45 deg angle tubeless slide
Kiddee Slide pool for yo<8
and the obligatory 6 story, 60 deg angle, death plunge with accompanying fully enclosed "Black Hole" tube.
Yeah, typical but worth it! There is even a decent Caesars Pizza attached.
I even took Monday off to recoop. Ahhhhh
Cheers
