Her name is Edna St. Vincent Millay. And her stuff is AMAZING. In English class today (and yesterday)
mintineko kept giving me funny looks because I was tapping my foot to the rhythm of the lines. Well is that my fault? They HAVE a rhythm, unlike most of the bloody poetry on our English teacher's desk.
I think I was biased on her side, however, as soon as I learned she was actually the author of a verse I've loved since I read Roald Dahl's The Witches, that is:
"My candle burns at both ends;
It will not last the night;
But ah, my foes, and oh, my friends,
It gives a lovely light."
