I came out to a few of my classmates and professor today. They were so confused about what I eat. One of them asked if I just ate a bunch of chemicals, he totally forgot that plants don't come from animals. It was so funny! Then he recommended some animal free cosmetics. Coming out is vegan fun.
To answer them, this is what I eat...
It was taco night, I couldn't turn down beans and chips. I just couldn't.
I sure did make up for the cooked food with dinner. I made Juliano's RAW Meat Loaf.
The BBQ sauce topping is sweet and tangy and gets my big ol' Texas approval. The actual loaf reminded me a lot of my favorite turkey meatloaf from back in the day except that there was too much soy sauce, won't be a problem next time. And again, I don't know what Juliano is thinking. Even after halfing the recipe I still only ate, at the most, 1/3 of it. The full recipe was intended to feed 2!
I have to say that not cooking my food makes me feel so much better. I decided to try to eat more raw food because I would look at my cooked food and feel like I wasn't getting the most out of it. Seeing (and tasting) a plate full of freshness is a world of difference. I just hope preparing a wide variety of food gets easier with time.
