Letsee... It's called The Hand of Galochio. Basically, if I go in any deep water this freaky water-hand-thing grabs me. I've seen it a couple times, but I don't think anyone else outside my family ever has. It's really weird. But I know it's real because almost everyone in my entire family died by drowning!

Hm. That sounds interesting. Like the long-lasting curses people would put on old temples and the pyramids of Egypt. Standard, like I said, especially putting it on the entire family. I'm not sure how he could. A curse where you are destined to die in deep water is hardly the first explanation that comes to mind.
