ugh. I stayed home sick today with a soar throat, fever, runny nose... the whole fucking deal. i feel like shit. but at least I had more time to work on my essays.. I suppose that's a bright outlook on it. Over the past few days we have had many dinner parties with families. Friday we went to Keoki's who was a friend of ours back on the mainland who we haven't seen in years. I met his 21 year old step daughter who is very earthy and beautiful. she cares so much about animals and nature it's adorable. anyway she was a really great person and we have plans to go surfing next weekend which should be enjoyable. the next night we went to dinner at Cliff's friends, Billy and Vicky's. they have a son who is back from college who is (gasp) VERY attractive. all of his friends, home from college (all Seaberry graduates) were also there and told me all about college experiences etc. they were all very driven and motivated which was a nice change from my group of slacker friends (save Sequoia of course). they were also very nice and mature and made me realize that I would probably fit in better at Seaberry. oh well. now I'm enduring the hell of being sick while trying to concentrate on the progressive reform movement in the early twentieth century so I'd better be off to the more delightful side of life.

p.s. kates (kate05h) sent me a viggo mortenson (strider LOTR) and harry potter poster for xmas and they are wonderful. Viggo is hanging on the wall opposite the mirror in my bathroom and I often find myself becoming increasingly distracted by his sex apeal. mmm. i love Katie hess.. we've just had a long conversation on the phone and it makes me miss her. she is lovely.
