kirya

some days i get to go to the kirya, the idf headquarters base in tel aviv. obviously it's a hell of a lot more comfortable serving half an hour away from home instead of two hours away, so i've learned to really love my kirya days. plus i really like some of the people i get to talk to over there and in general, a change of scenery is always a good thing (especially when your day-to-day scenery is the ugliest base you've ever seen with the dumbest people you've ever met.)

but there is one thing that drives me absolutely insane about the kirya, and that is the GODDAMN TELEPHONE. now i'm sure there's a way to change it, but because the office belongs to our higher ranking officer (who i am still totally intimidated by) i don't really want to change anything and accidentally ruin it or confuse it or something... but basically the phone ring is EXTREMELY FREAKING QUIET. which means that if i have music on any higher than a whisper then i might not hear it ring at all, and if the whole room is deathly silent then all i hear is a soft "ring-ring--ring-ring--ring-ring" at a pitch that is frighteningly reminiscent of hearing test ringing. and the best part is that now, hours after i've been away from the office, i CAN'T STOP HEARING IT IN MY HEAD.

and i mean, the phone rings all day. 99% of my work these days is through the phone. so no wonder i'm going insane. fucking kirya, man.

in other news, my friend got me an adorable m&m dispenser as a gift and just like that my m&mia is back full blown. i mean, come on, it's like buying a sexy shotglass for an alcoholic. you don't do that.

in other other news, i thought sigur ros were pretty boring UNTIL NOW. way better than their other stuff, i think.
