[Have a Gabriel, walking the opposite way on her side of the street, hands in pockets. His gaze keeps moving over the neighborhood, not specifically looking for anything, but always watchful.]
[He'll give her a friendly smile and a hullo once he's close enough.]
[It's a really bad sign when grown-ups start talking like that and all of his old wounds make Caroline's mind jump to conclusions, thinking that he's received them from here.
This place is going to be the end, and this is the thought that makes Caroline burst into tears.]
[He'd hug her but he's not sure she'd really want a stranger doing that sort of thing.]
