Things I will NOT miss about my current job (composed while on the clock)

1. High school juniors and seniors who don't bring a freaking pencil or pen or piece of paper to class, and then don't understand why I'm pissed after the 100th time they ask for them.
2. Students who get annoyed when I tell them can't sleep/read/play PSP/text on their phones in class. Then they ask "Why not?"

3. Students who refuse to hold themselves accountable for their behavior --- "I can't help it, I'm ADD." "I'm tired because of my meds" (only sometimes true), "I have anger management problems, it's not my fault." or just outright LIE to avoid responsibility --- "I did my work. YOU lost it."

4. Students who demand things they have not earned, including break time or my respect or trust. Usually starts sentences with "I'd better get..." or "You'd better (do this)..."

5. Students who skip school or sleep during class, then complain they don't understand the material during a review.

6. Same as #5, only using the above as the actual excuse why they shouldn't have to take the upcoming test --- "I was asleep in class all week, I don't know this shit. I can't take this quiz."

7. Students who request something, and then when they are told "no", revert to the five-year-old tactic of repeating the request over and over, in the hopes that the annoying nagging will eventually wear down the staff and they will give in just to shut them up.

8. VARIATION ON #3: Students who bring expensive things to school (ipods, other electronics) and then leave them out in plain sight instead of using a locker. When they are gone, they blame the teachers for losing them.

9. Students who see themselves as having equal or more authority to teachers. Usually with older seniors, these students do not see why staff have privileges they do not (using the phone, eating in class, etc).

10. Students who use the excuse that they are not in a "real" school and therefore can act however they please. Most students do not see the irony that these behaviors are exactly why they can't cut it in a "real" school.
