GIN PARTY 2005
summary:highlights
The Goering family has a huge family get together every year around Christmas time. Usually, it is the post-party to the Goering Christmas event, at which presents are exchanged between families. The Goering Christmas event was always held at Grandma and Grandpapa's house until last year, when Grandma was too sick to arrange the festivites.
Last year was the last of its kind, as my Grandma died. Therefore, the Gin Party was the main event this year. Attendees are diagramed at left. Names in gray indicate that the person was not present due to distance, insufficient funds, or lack of life.
Now, the Goerings are a rowdy bunch: especially when you get them all together. Most of the Gin Party merriment orriginates from harassment and jokes made at one anothers expense. In previous years, the toe-consealing portion of my papa's socks were cut off, Ben defeated Jonas in a wrestling match, and Grandmother chugged some alcohol due to popular demand. Last year, Papa's toe nails were painted bright red, Baby Joel continuously and intentionally face-planted on the ottoman, and Sheri revealed her desire to be a MILF. This year, however, was quite a disappointment. Jake, Kevin, and Ben played X-box most of the time, Joel grabbed asses, Trish and I threw peppernuts into a sleeping Bradley's mouth, then Joel and I had a Jammy Jam which consisted of me getting him in his pajamas and keeping him busy while my grandpapa talked to his kids about moving to the Aldersgate Village. Trish and I talked about music. Apparently she likes Iron and Wine almost as much as I do. This is extremely significant, as I have only ever talked to one other fan. It is sincerely disappointing that most people don't appreciate accoustic music very much. I gave her coppies of Woman King, Our Endless Numbered Days, and The Creek That Drank the Cradle. She gave me a Postal Service cd. The End.

Christmas was lovely. Family is lovely. Grandpapa's company is lovely.
The gift theme for me seemed to be 'improvement' this year, and that's just fine with me. I received:

-; fencing gear and a promise of lessons
-; offer of piano, guitar, or golf lessons.
-; age of empires 3
-; extra xbox 360 controller (Ben and I)
-; $200 check

Quite a lovely time.
