Man alive! Today I read through the Yule Hall chapter from Harry Potter & the Goblet of Fire. I miss formal dances- school dances- so much. Why will they not let us dance at this school?! What I would give to put on a suit, escort a lady and accompany friends to a ball!

What are my school authorities thinking?! What greater celebration is there for students who have completed a term? I'm going to pray that even this Southern Baptist Convention would embrace this most simple, enjoyable, and rewarding ritual.

This school refuses to host dances, but we are allowed to attend dances that are not affiliated with the school. So I go Contra dancing, which is an absolute blast- dancing at its best, I would say. But the formality of an end-term ball... there just isn't anything like it, folks! Even if many of us oragnized an unofficial ball at some dance place in Louisville, it just wouldn't be the same without our school backing us up. We love our school, that's why we attend her! The school makes it formal, and formality makes for rareity... it makes it special.

At least we have the Spring banquet. Too bad only a small fraction of our students come. Why don't they come, you ask? "What's the point? We're not even dancing."

yearning love,
