Soooo my mom's surgery went well. The surgery itself was only two hours, but the recovery was just under four hours. Luckily they only had to do a partial knee replacement, so her recovery time will be a lot better. Dad and I were at MGH from 10:30am to 9:45pm and then neither of us could sleep when we got home...the hospital air really messed with my asthma. Then I woke up up at four am with pins and needles on my scalp...my dad woke up and knocked on my door like five minutes later with a rash on his arms....so we're thinking it was either the food or the hospital that brought on some allergic reactions (my aunt took us to dinner across the street while my mom was in recovery). haha, I'm allergic to hospitals.
I'm so incredibly excited that this surgery is done and over with. It's been so sad and painful to see my mom so depressed and incapacitated. I'm also glad its over with because of all the complications the surgery entailed with her stroke. Now I'm hoping she'll finally be back to her old self: dancing, walking and just being active and happy in general.
PS - In honor of the end of an era (the cane era, that is) I shall have to retire my mom's favorite nickname : House ;-) Hence, the icon lol
