We had our ultrasound on Friday! Thanks for your prayers! He/she/it is still alive and kickin! It was waving at us, movin' all about and such, and we heard the heartbeat for the first time ever!!! The heart rate was 160-something, which they said was good. Oh, and they also said the baby measures at 12 weeks, which is one week older than they had been telling us before! We know that has to be true, because there was certainly no baby-making going on the week it would have had to have happened for it to be what they had been saying, because I was sick and on steroids and the doctor said no baby-making was allowed while I was on that. Anyway, so yeah, it's been determined that our child was conceived in beautiful Shasta, California!
TMI??? Meh, figured it would at least get a little giggle :)
Anyway, as we watched the baby moving on the screen, Dan commented that the baby looked like a sea turtle, the way it was moving and such...I started laughing, as did the ultrasound tech, but he told me I would have to try not to laugh, because he was trying to take measurements.
So, on the ultrasound picture, the baby's head seriously looks like an Area-51-style alien! It's awesome!!! And the way it's arm is raised, it's as though it's saying "ET phone home." Yep. It's awesome.
We are so excited! It will only be a little more than a month before we can call our child by name! (because we will know the sex of the baby)
Oh, just so you know, these are the names:
boy: Elijah James Wait
girl: Hannah Rose Wait
The best part about the name Hannah, besides the fact that in Hebrew it means "grace," or "grace of God," which is very cool indeed, is that it's a pallendrome!!! (If you know me well, you know I'm *secretly* a language nerd...ok, not so secretly, I majored in Spanish. enough said.)
And Elijah means "Jehovah is God" in Hebrew.
The sad part: We came up with these names months before we were even married! Kind of nice, though, because we don't have to stress about naming our little one.
Now you know.
