Eric brought in my mini laptop and luckily enough the hospital has free wifi. So I guess this has been happening since at least October-November when I started having problems, we just never saw the connection. The flu I thought I had that gave me trouble breathing should have been the first sign but we thought it was just the flu. The second sign should have been the constant nose bleeds, it wasn't exactly that my membranes are too weak, it's that my platlete count was/is too low and makes it so I can't clot normally. Then I got pneumonia and had trouble breathing again, only the problem was that my c02 level was too high and that's what was causing the trouble breathing. I was basically hyperventilating. They also mentioned that change in taste is a sign and coincidently my taste had changed drastically in the past two months. Last Tuesday morning I was having trouble again so I decided to go to my doctor. They did a blood test and sent me on my way, thinking I only needed to do nebulizer treatment a few times a day. Well they called me right back and said to go to the emergency room because my c02 level was at a dangerous level. My mom took me in and while I'm back there they start getting ready to hook me up to oxygen when the doctor on call comes in and tells us that its not an oxygen problem, its my kidney shutting down, my creatinine level was 17 and normal function should be below at least 4. Not to mention all other things in my body were way off as well. I had to be transferred, via ambulance, to the hospital where I am now because I require dialysis and the local hospital doesn't have a dialysis unit, which I find odd but I prefer this hospital anyway. They had to place a catheter which they tried to put in my neck but failed, so they placed it in my leg in my groin area. Not fun but I would rather have it in a more discreet area than sticking out of my neck. Wednesday I had trouble and they had to place an air respirator, so not fun but it came out the next day and I left the intensive care unit. I'm down in general care now. We're basically playing a waiting game now to see if my kidney is going to make a turn around and recover, I may need dialysis for a while to get there but right now its too hard to tell for sure. If worse comes to worse I may need a new kidney, I do have another match so we're not too worried about it but I'm not going to be thrilled either if it comes down to it. Kacie made me a fan page on facebook, I can't believe it, lol. I got over 150 visitors the last I checked, its kind of weird because there are people on there saying they love and miss me and I don't even know who they are, lol. I've officially said "lol" too many times. Dialysis is rough, it makes me sick and I freeze half to death but they say it should get easier with time. I certainly hope so. And now we wait.
