films i'm looking forward to:
BRICK - man alive am i excited for this one. looks A-MAZING.
INSIDE MAN - two of the coolest actors working together in one film. i may have a man crush on clive owens. spike lee directing. love the old school feel of the trailer. and the title design. looks like a great thriller.
V FOR VENDETTA - two words: natalie. portman. looks great, visually, and fun. never read the comic but this makes me want to.
MISSION IMPOSSIBLE: III - two words: j.j. abrams. i love the first movie, i'm hoping this brings the greatness. philip seymour hoffman looks like a bad ass in this. and that shot of cruise slamming against that car after an explosion? holy crap.
MARIE ANTOINETTE - sophia coppola new film. visuals look amazing. love the song on the trailer with those images. loved LOST IN TRANSLATION, so i'm looking forward to this.
A SCANNER DARKLY - i think the rotoscoping animation fits the demands of the story for this one. just read my first philip k. dick book and dug it. i like keenu. what? i do.
DAVE CHAPPELLE'S BLOCK PARTY - i can't see myself going to the theater for this, but i look forward to getting it from netflix.
THE FOUNTAIN - darren-motherfrakkin'-aronofsky. cannot wait. i've been reading about this project for what feels like a decade. will be amazing. i just hope it's finished in time to come out this year.
NACHO LIBRE - jack black. freakin' jack black. mike white wrote it (he also wrote school of rock, which i love). interested to see if the director of napolean dynamite really has it or if that was just a fluke. from the look of the trailer he's still emulating wes anderson. not a bad thing, necessarily...i'm sure after a few flicks he'll start finding more his own style. maybe with this one he has.
Anticipating by default:
SUPERMAN RETURNS - bryan singer, shot with the new genesis camera so i'm interested in how that looks. other than that...eh. teaser didn't do much for me.
Looking forward to seeing if it's a big disaster, pleasant surprise or something inbetween:
X-MEN 3 - bret ratner directing worries me. the character posters that look like they're straight outta rent aren't a great sign. the fact that the movie is being rushed just so it can come out before superman. there's so much working against this movie right now. also, it's supposed to be the last x-men movie (minus spin-offs and what not) which seems dumb. apparently major characters are gonna die. dumb. the weird thing? i dug the teaser. so i'll go into it with low expectations and hopefully be surprised.
