Within reasons. I shall continue to hold my concerns for you no matter the situation. Both here and at home. It shall not change for as long as I am myself.
And true to his words, mere moments later, Anakin appeared. He was almost a complete contrast to how he had been from the first disappearance, in both appearance and behaviour. Where once he had found himself withdrawn and seeking solitude, Anakin was now almost bouncing with each step. It was a change that had taken time- too much time -but it was something that he was still glad to have happened.
Crossing the way over toward Padmé, his smile grew at her presence alone. On his part, it was a simple topic for discussion. But that didn't make it any less important to him that Padmé was to be involved in the decision being made. After all, they were a couple; husband and wife. Her word meant as much to him, if not more, as his own did.
Turning upon his arrival, Padmé smiled despite her earlier musings. It was not even, to be honest, that her thoughts felt unduly heavy so much as that they did have weight and did mean something important to her, which was in itself better than not meaning anything. As he crossed toward her, her smile widened and she took a few steps in his direction as well to meet about half way. Her morning had been spent mostly thinking, considering her own options in the City. Having kept a careful eye on most network activity, it was all she could do to spend her days in the library and, on occasion, Xanadu. Yet in the shadow of her normal responsibilities, she also found it a bit too easy to feel idle, even if she was doing something.
Perhaps that was what made her so overly pensive of late.
"Hello," she greeted simply, reaching her hand out to rest lightly on the crook of his elbow, the folds of his robe.
"Have you been up here all day?" His own hand moved to her cheek, brushing it lightly. It was obvious from the network alone that there was a lot on her mind. He knew that he wasn't ever the best person to try and talk to, but that didn't mean he wouldn't try to alleviate any concerns she held. Even just for a moment.
"The citizens seem to have worked themselves up over this day." It'd been both entertaining and confusing to see the amount of work that people had put in to something as simple as creating a costume. Even now, he didn't completely understand the reasoning behind it. Halloween wasn't something he'd made himself familiar with during his time in the City. But regardless, so many people had managed to get themselves involved and they all seemed to be enjoying it. Not just the children of the City. "Between their celebration yesterday and the ongoing festivities today, I am sure most shall be put in to a lighter mood for the next few days." Curses aside.
"A lighter mood is welcome," she nodded, her head bowing forward slightly, eyes not settling on any one point. "And I have only been here for half of the day, but I have had a fair amount of thinking to do." It was natural for her to lean into the curve of his hand, covering it with her own and holding it there. There was always something uniquely calming and wonderful about being near Anakin. It was a combination of her love as well as her appreciation, her respect and devotion, but also his in return, everything that he emanated in a way as if to help her reclaim a better sense of calm or a softer smile. Sometimes, she felt at a loss with him, not entirely certain on what she could say or do in his darker moments, but perhaps that was the point at times: only he could help himself.
Of course in her own way she sometimes refused to believe that. Everyone needed a shoulder or an arm to lean on, a hand to hold theirs from time to time.
"What was it you wished to discuss?" she asked, staring up at him curiously.
Welcome, and needed, considering the way things had been recently. There was a note of surprise at her admission, but it wasn't something he lingered on for long. He couldn't blame her for taking time away to think. It was the very thing he had been guilty of previously. Only she hadn't truly cut herself off; she had allowed him to come and see her.
"A plan, of sorts. Luke made a request of me when he left." It was a testament as to how much things had changed since then that he managed to say those words with acceptance and not anger now. "He wanted me to be happy, and to not allow anything to come between us. ... He asked me to let go." Easier said than done, but that didn't mean he wouldn't try. "I want to honour that, but for you." She was the one person who was most important to him, and the only person in the entire city whose opinion truly mattered.
"I want to choose a different path while we reside here."
At mention of Luke, she blinked, opening her mouth to reply immediately, only to not say a word. Instead she paused, brow furrowing slightly, eyes moving to the side, staring now at his shoulder instead. Though she did not quite wear a frown, her expression had changed. It was not exactly sad, but it felt heavy within her for a moment: Luke and Leia. If only she had known earlier, and yet, perhaps it was better this way. Composing herself once again, she glanced back up at him, arching a brow with a half smile.
"A different path? In order to let go?" she prompted, not entirely certain she understood his meaning.

Are you too worrying less lately, Anakin?
Sometimes it is difficult for me to tell, even standing beside you.
