Yes...well. I do believe it slipped my mind to mention that I was off to London for a while... Though to be honest, it was an abrupt decision on my part as I planned no such trip until I was completely finished with my business in Liberty. Yet, circumstances compelled me to return home for a little while. EDIT: And no, this wasn't to prove to a certain someone my lack of attachment to a certain place. At all.
You see, after a month or so of no contact, my editor grew concerned that I - to put it delicately - had offed myself out of frustration. She attempted to visit me here in the States to check up on my progress and well being, but a new contract and a difficult client forced her to stay in England. And as you can imagine when I contacted her again, she wasn't convinced that it had just "slipped my mind" to give her a ring or reply to the letters she sent when she thought I had chucked my mobile out the window. I couldn't very well tell her about what really happened to me, so I popped over to London to assure her that I was of sound mind and body.
Oh, London.
As usual the sun was nowhere in sight and it drizzled for a little bit in the evening - seems that London is eager to start in on the Autumn gloom. At times it was noisy and crowded - especially on the bus (good lord, I think I even got felt up on the ride to my favourite chip stand) and even more so in my flat. Mr. Clarke in the flat above mine seems to have gotten a karaoke machine and thinks he's the next David Bowie. I even caught him in the lift wearing...a most interesting outfit.
It was all typical London really.
And it was brilliant.
I confess, I'm finding it difficult to return to the States after being home for a couple days - especially when my editor said she rather have me in London than in Liberty. She's not one to make such statements lightly, and I'm terribly terribly tempted to cut my research trip short and return home for good, but...
It feels akin to giving up... And I don't care for such a feeling.
Regardless, I told my editor I would give it some consideration as long as she considers visiting me in the States as an alternative option.
So, yes. I apologise for not mentioning this earlier, but rest assured I will be back in a day or two...depending on my willpower. And I'm especially sorry to my guest to have run out on you like that. I...hope everything was fine with the house? It certainly should be with those salt rings I added for extra security.
Oh yes. Lastly, for those interested here's a picture of my editor. It's...certainly not of the best quality as I dropped it in a puddle some time ago and it suffered some water damage. I could get the negatives and provide a better picture, but I'm a bit too knackered at the moment to go through such effort. So you'll all have to make due.
