One of the many things that Ichigo had learned in his battles through Soul Society was that when your opponent was likely much stronger than you, hesitation could be deadly. So he wasn't going to wait to see if one strike hit before barreling in with another and yet another. Like his fights with the captains, he knew that pausing could cost him.

But this time he couldn't quite help it; When his opponent nearly tanked a Getsuga Tenshou, he stopped short, bewildered. "What the?"

While Yoruichi was busy asking the other, quiet one, questions, he only half listened. His attention was focused on the gash that he knew Zangetsu's attack had left, but it should have done much more damage than that!

Ichigo’s hand twitched over his blade. The hollow man's laugh was mocking him, and the battle lust reminded him eerily of his fight with Kenpachi. Damn spiritual pressure. People needed to know when whey were hit and actually take the damage instead of laughing it off like some stupid paper cut!

"I don’t do requests!" Ichigo shouted as he pushed aside the nagging desire to simply use Bankai and kick this guy's ass. He gave himself the mental reassurance that he didn't need it in order to win the fight. Frowning, he increased his reiatsu, then dashed forward in an attempt to keep pace as he attacked with another arc of energy from his zanpakutou.

It wasn’t that he couldn’t hit him. He was just going to have to hit him a lot to get somewhere. Ichigo was fine with that.
