Look ma, it's a VID!

And my first one at that so we'll how it goes. I will tell you this: this thing is addictive. Like, more than you'll realize until you're getting up at three in the morning to see how your rendering is going.

Also, probably the result of watching too much due South and my all-consuming love for Ray K. Oh Ray K.

Since it's a .divx file, it's probably the divx codec -- but the GSpot Codec Information Appliance will tell you what you have and what you need.

Meanwhile, the K-Lite Codec Pack has everything you could possibly need, ranging from Basic on up.

Ok, yes, sorry about that. I'm afraid divx is the only compression program I have, and otherwise the whole thing comes out to be something like 700 mb and nobody wants that.

Aside from everything that sageness says below, you could try straight for the divx codec from the divx site and/or try VLC Player which has always played everything wonderfully for me.

Ooh, pretty! I liked how you used that long MotB shot of Ray K listening to Fraser's story - it gave it so much meaning, whereas I found it a little odd in canon. And the intercut of the falling shots was great. Ooh, also, a question: what did you use to make this? Is it downloadable? I'm trying to make my first vid too. eep.

Thank you! I love that shot of Ray. It was certainly an interesting directorial decision to use in canon, but it's also a great relationship-establishing moment.

I used Adobe Premiere 6.5 which I obtained from a friend so probably illegal and bought DivX for compression purposes. I'm sure there are other great programs out there. Or get limewire.

Hee. I was afraid of that. Sigh, illegal program time. ^_^

Limewire/Bittorrent is your friend! :)

Also, I figure I'm a poor student which means my income is negative. I'm sure there are plenty of non-poor and/or non-students out there who can shell out hundreds of dollars for video editing programs. Plus, it's not like I'd buy it if I couldn't downloaded; I'd just not vid. So they're not really losing any money anyway.

Thank you! I always wanted to do a vid to that song, and I just automatically thought of due South when I decided to give vidding a try.

(And yay for feedback!)

I like the clips you chose, particularly the sequence of jumping/falling shots at the beginning.

Thank you! That's actually my favourite bit too because it's from two of my favourites episodes and they really are just always falling about.
