Sandbox: Aizen and Gin 2

He had finally done it. Aizen Sousuke, the Lord of Heaven. He smiled down from his throne into the darkness, watching as his servants brought forth the great stone sarcophagus that would bring him the one thing that he could not rule without. Granting lives was simple now that he was a god; he could do entirely as he pleased, and the King's Realm ( Read more... )

As Gin was pulled back to conscious living, the spirit particles of his body coalescing and forming once more, he became aware of many things all at once.

The first and most important of these was the stone box that was pulling irrevocably on his soul, tugging him down and trying to trap him inside. Never being one to follow someone else's path when he was being forced, he exerted his rapidly returning will and pulled away from there.

He would come back to life, but it would be under his own terms.

So as Aizen lifted the lid of the sarcophagus he would find it empty, because the supposed resident was now laying naked and panting behind the throne.

Aizen straightened at what he saw. The box was empty? How? They had done this several times before to test it, ensuring that it really did work before attempting it on Gin. To find that the box was empty was the worst possible disappointment. He had longed to have Gin return to him, and now, faced with the reality that he hadn't, Aizen only trembled, gripping the edge. What was the point of being god if you couldn't bring people back to life?

"Stubborn fool," he whispered, into the emptiness, misery lacing his words. "Can't you obey a single order?"

He sighed, sinking down against the box, pulling his hands over his head.

It took Gin another few minutes before he had regained enough control and sense of self to stand, unashamed of his nakedness as he padded silently from behind the throne.

It was strange to see Aizen so undone, and he wondered if he often behaved this way in private. The words resonated through the room, making Gin's trademark grin hitch into place.

"An' what order m'I s'pposed ta be obeyin'?"

Aizen started at the sound of Gin's voice, lifting his eyes and staring up at him. How...? No, it was a ghost. Or his imagination. He's surely, finally, gone completely insane.

He stood up, slowly, pushing his hand absently back through his hair and looking at Gin quietly.

"You aren't real."

This was just too funny, had Aizen really fallen to so many pieces after he had died? He remembered the tears staining his chest, and he wondered how many more times the 'all-powerful god' had cried for what he had lost.

His smile hitching ever higher, he leant on Aizen's shoulder with one bony arm, skeletal body curving almost gracefully to rest on him.

"Feel pretty solid fo' someone that ain't real, ne?"

He flinched slightly as Gin came close enough to touch him, leaning against him, his body warm and real, skin as soft as he remembered. He even smelt like Gin, and yet...yet it couldn't be.

"The box was empty," he said, as though that, logically, was the only explanation.

He leant further over, resting his other arm on Aizen's head as though he were a desk to be craned over, and peered into the empty box.

"Sho' is." He agreed, leaning back again. "Didn' like th'look of it."

Aizen frowned, shifting slightly so as to let Gin drape himself over him to look into the box. He eased back, and as he did so he said the most magnificent thing.

"You..."

"Just like you."

He looped his arm around Gin's hips, pulling him closer, exhaling harder than he meant to. "It's really you."

Aizen's arms looped around his naked hips and pulled him in, and for once Gin was completely pliant in his arms. Leaning his thin weight against Aizen's broad chest, he lay his head on the other's shoulder and allowed his smile to become something softer, something almost real.

"Yo' brought me back."

He didn't know quite what to say. It was a miracle. It was beyond that, for he had created this miracle himself. Gin, whom he had thought gone forever. Gin, who was part of him and had been lost so many, many years ago. How long had it taken? And yet here he was, stretched against him, beautiful and real and perfect as he had ever been, smiling up at him.

"I brought you back," he agreed. "It took forever, but I brought you back."

Arching his back slightly, every one of Gin's vertabrae protruded the luminous white skin of his body, and his silver hair hung over closed eyes almost mockingly.

"Miss me~?"

"There was no joy in a single day that passed without you, Gin," he said, honestly, leaning down to drag his face through the silver hair, inhaling from it.

"Do you remember dying?"

Every agonising second of his death was burned into his mind, and Aizen was a fool to think it could be any other way. Every ragged breath that he had fought to take and every second his reiatsu dipped lower.

Not that he would voice this to Aizen, not that he would start this second life with anything other than a resolve to keep the upper hand. But the other man needed an answer, and he had just the words to let him know he remembered it all.

"...Gods don' cry, Sousuke..." He murmured.

If Aizen could wish it away he would. If Gin had been able to wake without the memory of what had happened to him, he would have been so grateful.

Instead he held the other man closer, brushing his hand back through his hair, leaning against him eagerly.

"I wanted nothing except to die when I lost you. I have never wished for anything more clearly in my life."

This was completely new territory for Gin, and he wasn't yet sure how to respond. While Aizen had shown him affection on occasion, and he had been aware of being one of the more useful people in his life, he was not used to being so nakedly needed.

That Aizen would have wanted to die when Gin did... Such a powerful emotion being felt for him, that wasn't hatred or fear, it was confusing and overwhelming.

For once he didn't want to mock, and his liar's tongue spoke no twisted words to bind and confuse the vulnerable one holding him. Instead, he brought his arms properly around Aizen and allowed him to gain comfort from just being there, his own words soft.

"Aaaa. S'a good job yo' didn' die, or I wouldn' be here, ne?"

He softened, slowly gathering his wits, recovering where he held Gin. He kissed at his hair and pressed against him, and eventually sighed, easing backward, feeling...feeling so much better.

"The next time you have a choice," he said, sternly, "Between dying and taking help when it is offered to you, you will choose the help, no matter who it comes from. Do you understand?"
