ConDFW ,Pirates III, and Opera

I registered last month (woo..right before the up in price deadline) for ConDFW in Dallas. Been going now for 3 years (or at least this will be the third) and been enjoying it. If nothing else, it's a reason to get away on my own for a weekend of relaxation. I LOVE those!! Weekends by myself away from everything.

So last week my husband sent me an email to of all things a Disney World resort package for the opening of Pirates of the Caribbean III!! I SOOO wanted to go, but alas, I don't have enough vacation time to take five full days off for it (which I would need to make the trip worth it). It was a fun idea, with pirate themed meals and entertainment as well as the midnight showing of Pirates III.

Yesterday I sat my happy butt down and bought 3 sets of opera tickets. Concert of Arias in February, Aida in April, and Madame Butterfly at Fort Worth in June. So that should complete my opera going for the rest of this season so to speak. There's nothing else nearby that I'm interested in, and I'm just not industrious enough to go looking for the 'out of the way' opera houses and see what they are performing. Even though back in November I did go with my mother to see Die Entführung aus dem Serail at Opera in the Heights, a local small opera theater. While the theater is cool because it's in an old church, the fact that it's OLD made it terrible for me!! I had awful allergies the whole time I was in the building and had to hold a handkerchiefover my nose/mouth so I wouldn't be sneezing through the whole opera. The bass singer was GREAT, the rest, well, they were interesting.

opera, con, pirates
