Authors Note: This is my fix to THAT episode and a way to get Nathan out from under the clutches of people who seem to hate him. There is more to this with a whole background and other people surrounding Nathan in the Dollhouse, let me know if you want more.

Waking up in your own blood would be upsetting for anyone, but for Nathan it seemed to be par for the course. Instead of freaking out or worse going insane, Nathan simply stared at his mother and Noah Bennett and said. “What the hell was that?”

Angela Petrelli to her credit didn’t even blink an eye, even though it was clear she’d been crying, she just pulled Nathan to his feet and pushed him out the door. “You’ve had another accident Nathan and I for one am sick of it. I’m taking you somewhere you’ll be safe.”

Nathan tried to turn around and look at his mother but she wouldn’t let him, she and Noah shoved him in Noah’s rental car and then spoke to each other in hushed voices. They came to an agreement about something and Angela slid into the driver’s seat, while Nathan fought a rising headache.

After they’d pulled into traffic he tried speaking again. “Ma is Peter okay, where’s Claire, what the hell is going on?” Angela didn’t answer, she just kept driving until they reached a building Nathan had never seen before. An older woman who kept looking Nathan over like he was a piece of meat or worse showed them inside and the elder Petrelli son could no longer hide his sense of unease. “Ma,” he asked but Angela just smiled and patted his cheek.

“You’ll be safe here Nathan I promise,” she said softly, “don’t worry about Peter, Claire or Sylar anymore.” She then turned to the older woman. “You have the photo in the file still,” she asked and the woman nodded. “Chose someone who looks as close to the photo as possible, it will make him much calmer.” The woman nodded again and took Nathan’s arm.

He had the urge to fight whatever was about to happen to him, but the look on his mother’s face stopped him cold. She looked like her heart was breaking in half and yet she also looked like this was the only choice she could make for him.

Nathan let the woman lead him away his eyes on Angela until he was pulled through a doorway and it slammed shut on his mother’s face. Whatever happened he’d always have his memories of her, Claire and Peter to keep him strong…wouldn’t he.

“Begin the imprint right away, priority one.”
