We were asked for a brief statement of why we had joined the group, probably in hopes of livening up the space. Here is what I wrote:
I relate very much to Jesus as the dying and rising god, and while I do have access to anglican churches which do well at marking the year, I also love to worship outdoors. So I have found an pagan group which is Christian-tolerant, and do many of the holidays with them.
I also see that there is reconciliation work to be done with the older faiths, and feel that as part of my presence in my group - an un-obnoxious, undefensive witness to some of the good things Christianity can and has offered. Part of that reconciliation is a recognition that parts of the Bible do seem to refer to other deities, and however my theology is playing that out at the moment, I have experienced different forms of the Holy Powers, even while I "save the last dance" for Christ.
In Christian contexts, I sometimes come across as actually more theologically conservative, since a flexible understanding of physical reality, and an acceptance of mythic truth as being true, has led me to not rule out the miracles described in scripture as being possible and even likely.
