Later in my dystopian fantasy series, Fixing a Hole, the characters will encounter Liannan: the Unseelie Faerie who is the dark muse from Welsh and Irish mythology.
Liannan is the demon lover of poets and musicians, and can bring them fame and fortune... in exchange for feeding on their life-force, bringing them a short and tragic life.
"Shakespeare knew me. I was his Dark Lady of the Sonnets... but Sweet William had the help of Oberon and Titania, and was able to elude my grasp.
I knew all the Romance poets--Byron, Keats, Shelley--and I even flirted with W.B. Yeats and Oscar Wilde. But it was the last century where I found those I loved the best.
The Jazz Age, the Big Band Era... that was just the prelude. It was Rock & Roll, baby.

The Big Bopper. Ritchie Valens. Buddy Holly. Jimi Hendrix. Janis Joplin. Ronnie van Zant.
All of them were my lovers.
