To all of you who know the bible better than I (i.e., most of you):
I have (at work) a bible (Basel: Johan de Amerbach, 1481) with a 19th century fore-edge painting by John T. Beer. The scene is described in a checklist of Beer's fore-edge paintings as "A scene on the Nile." I'd appreciate it if anyone could offer more details on what this image likely depicts. I see three men in the center foreground, apparently traveling, and think: the three wise men. But that is all.
