So, Amazon.com is having a Halloween Sale, with deeply discounted Halloween DVDs.

Me, being me, went and scoured it looking for anything good, of any region. I did find a couple good things, but my favorite genre of horror is of course Asian Horror. So I was specifically looking for Asian Horror movies and I did find a few, but not the kind I was looking for. I found Suicide Circle in there, and the few others of Asian origin that i checked out were all similar kinds - gorefests. Which only strengthens my opinion of the American and Japanese horror markets - Americans believe that the way to scare people is to spend the majority of their budget on fake blood to splash over everyone and everything, and include shocker violence to go with it. Often you are introduced to the villians outright and they're not that mysterious. Asians go for the more subtle horror; they seem to know that fear is partially about the unknown, and often they don't outright show any or all of the adversary. (Yahtzee pointed this out in his Silent Hill: Homecoming review and I'm rather pleased to find that he thinks the same thing.)
Anyway, I continue my coming of the Halloween sale, but as far as Asian horror goes I think the pickings are slim.

EDIT: Hahaha, Moon Child's on there. lol. Well whatever.
I also noticed that American remakes of some good Asian horror films - Shutter, Grudge, Dark Water - are on there, but not their Asian counterparts. Hmmm.
