Ah, yes.  The great cosmic clock ticks away and on April Fool's Day no less.  I went to school with Tom in Cottage Grove.  We weren't particularly close but this puts us a little closer in my book.  If I wanted to look for the human funny, I'd say something about sudden retirement from teaching is bad for your health.  It seems vaugely stumping and slightly disturbing.

Mayer, Roger J. Retired from St. Paul Public School District #625 Age 62 of St. Paul, unexpectedly on April 1, 2008. He is preceded in death by parents Lucille and William Mayer. He is survived by his sons Tom (Bridget) and Pat; Grandson William; brother Tom (Alyce); sisters Kathy (Ozzie) Lavey and Cheryl (Denny) Krenner. Also survived by nieces, nephews, relatives, and many friends. Roger was an avid outdoorsman and a wonderful father. He will be dearly missed by all. Visitation 9-11AM Saturday at the O'HALLORAN & MURPHY FUNERAL CHAPEL (575 So Snelling Ave., St. Paul), 651-698-0796. Funeral services 11AM Saturday at the Funeral Chapel. Interment Resurrection Cemetery.
