It's My Party
Day 1 of middle school theatre. I have two sections of acting, two sections of speech/debate and one section of girl's movement. Not dance, movement. One section of theatre and one section of speech are looking like day care classes with unruly students. It's a little early to tell, but we'll see how it turns out.
I spent a good chunk of this evening going over documents and bits of curriculum for class. Need to get all goodies together so the sub for when I got to Chicago has all the stuff he/she needs. I am tired.
I was really excited and scared this morning. I am still a little of both, I have until 5 June at school and I need to really make this count. I have to learn a lot and put a lot of stuff together. I think I might get a new zip drive and keep all of my school goodies on just that drive. Oh, I get my own WiFi laptop. It's a Mac, but it works and I still can't print. Comp-gurus say I can access my station by Thursday.
Went to the district offices today to finish all necessary paperwork and sign my contract. I'll be making twice what I made with TOC. Twice. Hopefully in the next few months, I can start to fill in the holes and save a bit for a better car.
Also got my spiffy new St. Paul Public Schools badge and a huge ring of keys. At least I can lock the desk here!
Well, time for the shower, a buncha ibuprofen and a good long sleep. Gotta be at school by 7 so I can get stuff copied and ready for the kiddies. Tomorrow is a Huntington day and Thurs is a Science Museum day. Good thing the museum is so close to school. I'll be able to get a lot of work done between school and museum as both run on Macs and I'll have a nearly 4 hour gap in gigs. Lesson and session planning and set up.
