Hermione, I do not know WHAT the intent of those things were, but seriously never let me go on them again! Did you see the ends? It looked like it was EATING the steps. I'm used to steps disappearing, mind you, but not when it actually looks like TEETH are causing them to do so! My skirts almost got caught in the end, I swear it

The 'ends' weren't eating the steps! They were part of the steps, Padma. Didn't you hear me tell you so? Your skirts would have gotten caught if it hadn't been for my extraordinarily quick reflexes. I'm quite sure that torn skirts would have ruined your day. I do hope that wasn't one of your sister's skirts, just in case you got a little hole or something that we didnt' notice.

I said it merely looked like they were being eaten! Not that they actually were being digested. Even though I'm not so sure of that. I knew I should have taken Muggle Studies.

They were mechanical. There is no digestive system of any nature in their underbelly. Yes, you should have taken Muggle Studies! I think you would have enjoyed it. Well, most of it. The section on transportation may not have been to your liking.
