Just a few random things about the Little Dude...
I know I don't post often, but when I do, I find that I don't say too much about Nathaniel, which is a shame, because he's a pretty cool kid. Sure, he wakes up once or twice a night (except over the weekends, when he wants to be up for a third of the night. AJ takes the night shifts over the weekends, but Nathaniel's nightly routine doesn't change generally, so I don't know why he picks Friday and Saturday nights to stay up for two hours at a time...)
Me: Nathaniel! Can you say, "Mama?"
Nathaniel: :D
Me: Mama?
Nathaniel: Dada.
Me: Ma-ma?
Nathaniel: Da-da.
Me: Ma?
Nathaniel: Da.
Me: Ma...ma?
Nathaniel: Da...da. :D
That happened the other day. I was sure that he was pranking me, since he's said "mama" a couple of times before (but months apart), but he also says "da-da-da..." whenever we try to get him to say other names, like Granny, Grandpa, Meemaw, Pawpaw, and Nana. (Why is "Pawpaw" not showing up as a misspelled word? You're silly, Firefox spell-checker.)
A little while ago, I placed Nathaniel in his walker and then stepped away for a moment. I come back, and he's chewing on a red and white paper. Holy crap, he got to the Netflix! So I took that away and hid it behind a picture frame on the mantel (mantle?). Then I wondered where the DVD was. He had that seated in his lap. Thankfully the DVD was still in its sleeve. Little Dude thought he'd be able to smuggle that one without me noticing... I hope I remember where I put that stuff later after AJ gets home.
And over the weekend, I learned that Nathaniel will eat baby food he hates, so long as he is distracted by a catchy theme song playing on the television. So I shoveled a lot of Gerber macaroni and cheese with veggies while he had his eyes glued to the television listening to the opening to Phineas & Ferb. He's a big fan of music. If he's cranky, we can calm him down by doot-dooting or bawk-bawking the Robot Chicken closing theme... unless he's beyond pissed, which rarely happens.
He's a goofy little booger. I'm a fan of him. And there's tons more I could say about him, I'm sure, but I can't think of much more right now, so I'll just post this.
