The Hub 1 -

Friday:
I picked my dress up and headed over to Northampton. I managed to find the hotel without too many problems, well it’s a big ugly thing covered in scaffolding. I even found somewhere to park, which was a bit of an achievement. I checked in and found my room, it was sooo horribly hot up on floor two, but unloaded my stuff and registered, got my pictures and mug and t-shirt etc. We didn’t have schedules in our packs, which I wasn’t too impressed with, but they stuck those up on the walls so it wasn’t too bad in the end. I decorated Myfwany with her ribbons and we went and hung around in the bar - drinking coffee and water for a few hours. My initial freak out wasn’t helped by the fact that the first person I spoke to was a rather scary (to me) American lady. I’m sure she’s very nice but just wasn’t the best person for me to talk to. I was sat in the lobby when Naoko came in, it seems they were all staying in the hotel, in the rooms which have already been refurbished I’m sure lol.

Went to the opening ceremony and I sat in the front row next to two very nice ladies, Niki and Ulrike, so the three of us hung out for the rest of the weekend, which was really great. At the opening ceremony were Gareth (in shorts - NICE), John and Naoko. John clearly started the weekend as he meant to go on by feeling up Gareth’s leg lol. I think it was at this point where Gareths offered to auction off his room number!! There was then the Gold Pass drinks party which was nice, but really really hot. We spoke to Kai who had literally just got there, he was lovely. John was being escorted round - he was lovely, and said hello to Myfwany, he also made a point of saying to one lady “haven’t I seen you here earlier” which pleased me since he did have some people following him around, trying to be in every group.

There was then the ‘Lost in Time’ party - which was nice - Kai and Gareth were around. Gareth was very sweet, dancing with a little girl who must have been about 8yrs old.

Saturday:
We went to breakfast at 8am and went straight off to join the queue for photos with Gareth, did him, then Kai, then Naoko, Paul Kasey, John and Lachlan, then the Group shot. So by Saturday lunch we had all our photos done. After lunch it was the Q & A sessions, starting with John, he was doing his usual enegeriser bunny act, then there was Kai, Gareth and Naoko, at which the filth quotient increased lol, then there was Lachlan, Paul (I think) and Jack Montgomery (young Jack), the panels finished with all the days guests. Lachlan is a very naughty boy lol, him and John were very funny, in fact the whole panel was hilarious, filthy and it was worth the ticket price in itself. I hurt from laughing so much.

We got some food after that and then went and changed for the 30’s/40’s party. It was nice, lots of people dressed up and they had two ladies singing Andrew’s Sisters songs and other 40’s classics. The hall was decorated for a ‘Kiss the Boy’s Goodbye’ Party.

The piece de resistance of the whole weekend though was the sketch that Gareth, John and Kai did. There was a personal, firm request for no filming and I really hope noone did. Needless to say it was pure filth and innuendo from start to finish, starting with John/Jack needing Gareth/Ianto round the front rather than the back entrance, it continued from there and finished with the three of them mooning the audience. Total magic.

Sunday:
Again we were up for breakfast at 8am so we could join the autograph queues, we got all of those, John, Gareth (who seemed very hungover - god knows how much Red Bull and coffee he drank over the course of the weekend), Kai, Paul Kasey, Sara Lloyd Gregory, Naoko, Anthony Lewis, Ian Hilditch, and Richard Tunesi. I had very sore feet by the end of that.

We went and got lunch and then had the final Q & A’s. Sara is so pretty, much prettier than her character. When it was the full panel, her and Gareth were sniping at each other lol, which I’m sure was for our benefit, because they only had Naoko sitting between them. Gareth made one comment “no wonder it didn’t work” at which Sara, asked what other characters she’d like to play, said Lady Macbeth, and looked at Gareth.

I didn’t ask any questions, maybe I should have, because I thought some of the last ones in the final session were really dull, and you really really shouldn’t ask political questions in that sort of thing I don’t’ think - Obama v. McCain, I mean come on people - be nice.

Anyway - I am now exhausted - but soooo happy. General things - there really weren’t any spoilers for Season 3, they kept all that close to their chests. Gareth and Kai hung out - mainly at the bars lol, for pretty much the whole weekend. Gareth is so totally different to his character, it’s a pretty good example of how good an actor he is I feel. Same with Sara.

The Hub 2 is in March - I’m thinking about going, even though I can’t afford it really. Matt Rippy and Tom Price are signed up. If I do go I will probably go for a Silver Pass. Although it was fabulous to sit in the front row the whole weekend, I’m not convinced that other than that, the Gold was worth it. I really would like a Matt photos and autograph.

I have all of Sunday’s photos to upload - including some of Gareth’s ass - I didn’t manage to get Kai’s unfortunately. Once I have those up this evening I will post some of my pics.
