Speaking of Grrr.... I had this all written and my computer froze... Augh! Anyhow...

Your friendly property manager with some friendly advice. First, if you don't want to move, then go talk to your property manager. More than likely he or she will be able to negoitate a lower increase. Second, if you do want to move, then I suggest going and talking to your property manager to see if you can work a deal if you move in the fall/winter. The summer is when like all leases expire (causing angst and sleepless nights and screaming fights between leasing and maintenance), so if you are willing to put off a more a few months to fall/winter when like no leases expire (causing angst and sleepless nights and screaming fights between leasing and maintenance) they may cut you a deal. Heck, right now, if you expire in Aug and agree to not move/expire until Nov or Dec, then I'm waiving renewal increases of about $100. Also, if you want to move, send me an email. My district manager is based in DC and I can get the inside scoop on some properties for you. (Don't you love having me on your flist?!?!?!)

Second, on the father front. Thank god he is back in jail and triple thank god that those kids are okay. Hugs, sweetie!
